Couturier Addy van den Krommenacker has been friends with our own Remco Schut for years. And Addy had a dream: publishing a biography. A book that bundles both his impressive career and his personal story. On the occasion of his 75th birthday, that dream came one step closer with the first pocket-sized edition. But we thought a milestone like that deserved more. So we proposed doing a luxe version too. A book you leave on a table and everyone goes “wow!” And guess what? We nailed it!
For the pocket edition, we designed the cover. Our team went full force, and young talent played a big role. Our apprentices Femke and Parinaz presented bold ideas and visual concepts during the inspiration phase. Addy picked one, and we refined it into the brand-new cover.
We wanted to bring out the most beautiful photos, so Addy personally dropped by the office. Together, we dived into his archive of old photographs to pick just the right ones. Every detail had to be perfect. We also added an extra layer—QR codes next to specific passages that link to videos from those periods. Our designer Lana developed a moody website for that, together with Femke and Parinaz.
The entire team worked hard in a short timeframe. Our trusty printer, Mark Mennes, also helped brainstorm how to give the book just that little extra. At lightning speed, we formatted, printed, and delivered—all on the very day of the celebration. The result? A luxury book that truly honors Addy van den Krommenacker’s life story. His reaction was pure gold. And we're proud as can be.
