I am very happy that I chose Embassy of Brands for my final year internship. From the beginning, I had the feeling that this internship would give me the opportunity to further develop myself and refine my skills. This feeling was immediately confirmed. From the first week, I was able to fully express my creativity, which gave me a lot of satisfaction. I know that there are great challenges waiting for me here, and I am very excited to take them on. The strategic approach to the projects really appeals to me, and I see a promising future at the end of my internship.

In the beginning, I had to create a mood board for three different sites. On that mood board, I placed the colors and fonts that I thought would fit the sites, and I explained my choices. After creating the mood board, I chose one of the sites to continue with the test assignment. For the Magnifiek Kappers website, I designed and drew a logo. I found this very interesting. I carefully chose the font, logo and colors for the Magnifiek Kappers website, with sufficient knowledge of the company. In the end, I had to select the font by writing a text on A5 format, together with the chosen color and the logo. Then I would present this to them to get their opinion about it.
At first I had no idea how to create my own page, but I was immediately excited about the idea. I had seen an example on our company website, and it inspired me a lot. It was an exciting challenge, because it allowed me to document everything I do during my internship. This page not only allows me to track my progress, but also to put my work on my resume at the end of my internship. It gives me the chance to present my growth and development in a visual and tangible way.
For this assignment I designed a template with the text of Storial Fashion. The position of the text was important, because the client had a long text that I had to present clearly to prevent it from looking messy. In addition, some important words had to be bolded, so that they would immediately stand out. I made several design options in InDesign, and in the end the last option was approved by the client.
For one of my assignments I was responsible for creating a moodboard for the NetPro Family Day. My task started with putting together a discovery moodboard, where I first researched the concept of a 'Family Day'. It was important to understand what this day exactly entails and what activities take place. Then I collected relevant photos and ideas to create the moodboard. Finally, I presented my concept and ideas to my internship supervisor.
For NetPro Inhakers I had to develop social media templates for 'special days'. My first step was to research the first special day, 'IT Professional'. I looked at various websites to get inspiration and determine what would fit best within the NetPro house style. I thought about icons, photos and texts. I also searched for quotes on various websites to find some attractive texts. I looked for funny and nice quotes to make the concept more attractive and to make the readers enthusiastic to read. In addition, I selected icons that fit well with the NetPro house style. My internship supervisor approved the texts, so that they can now be used for social media.
For this I used Figma to make a selection of photos and choose suitable images for the Captains of Energy website. I carefully considered which photos would fit best and could be placed in the right places.
After I finished the sketches and the client approved the concept, I started to transfer the designs from paper to digital. The client really appreciated the idea of the tree that we presented in the moodboard and sketches. He felt that the tree fit perfectly with their vision. So I created several logos with the tree as the central theme, while keeping the design true to the original NetPro logo in terms of style and font. We experimented with the font to subtly integrate a tree shape, without losing the recognizability of the logo. For the colors, I stuck to the NetPro house style. Thanks to feedback from colleagues, I worked on the different versions and eventually presented two final designs to the client. After their choice, we finalized the logo.
Once we had a clear idea of how the logo should look, I started sketching on paper. At every step, I asked for feedback from my colleagues to further develop the ideas. In the end, we created many designs, both on paper and digitally in Illustrator.
After sketching on paper, the customer indicated his choice, so we could continue working digitally on the logo. We looked for a well-fitting font that matches the logo. For this I looked at various websites to find suitable fonts. I then placed these fonts in different positions near the logo to see which one best suits Netley Capital.
For the company Dolmans I had to design a new sticker for a box of gingerbread nuts. The customer wanted to keep the text, but asked for a new design, logo and a fresh photo. That is why I focused more on finding suitable photos than on adding extra graphic elements. It was fun to get creative with the gingerbread theme and ensure that the text stood out more clearly. This assignment was a nice challenge, especially because the design had to be completed within a short time.
The website Frisdrank.com is getting a new adjustment. I was given the task of gathering inspiration for the homepage, menu and various other parts of the website. The goal was not to change everything, but to give the website a fresh look, because it currently looks too empty. In addition, we wanted to develop a more user-friendly menu, so that visitors can find the products more easily. I worked out my ideas and inspiration in Figma and discussed them with my supervisor to determine together which options contribute best to a refreshed look and better navigation for the website.
For the social media of Volantess I had to add new texts and photos. I first looked on the Volantess website to see which photos and texts fit well together and could be posted later. The layout design was already done, so I mainly focused on selecting the right texts and images and put them in Figma. Finally, I discussed the designs with my colleague to get feedback and make any adjustments if something was wrong.
For a recent assignment I had to improve and make an existing 26 slide presentation more appealing. The presentation was text and image heavy and my goal was to make it more visually appealing and professional looking. As a first step I consulted online sources of inspiration to get ideas for a modern and fitting design. Then I worked out several concepts in Figma using the inspiration I had found. I created a number of design options that matched the desired style. One of the biggest challenges was finding new icons that would fit well with Dcomm’s house style. Finding icons that were both visually appealing and in line with the branding required careful research.
For Netpro I created a social media post for Computer Security Day. To come up with a strong design, I started with an inspiration and research phase in Figma. I created separate boards to collect ideas and searched for images that fit the theme well. Then I worked out different design options in Figma.
After this creative phase I discussed the designs with my supervisor to select the best version. Then I refined the final design in InDesign, so that it was completely ready to send to the client.
At Dolmans Landscaping Group I was responsible for transferring the entire website layout from Adobe XD to Figma. I paid close attention to the color style and typography to maintain the corporate identity consistently. First I formatted all texts and colors correctly in Figma, after which I started building the layout and entering the content.
For this assignment, my internship supervisor asked me to make logo sketches for Raimond Weenink. As inspiration, we used examples that we had collected via Pinterest and placed in Figma during the inspiration phase. Based on this, I made my own sketches on paper. Then I worked out the sketches in Figma for the presentation.
For our new assignment for Raimond Weenink we had to come up with and design a new logo. We started with the discover phase, but since we had already completed that, we immediately started looking for inspiration for the logo and colors. I searched for logos and colors on Pinterest, which I then placed in Figma. In the end we had to choose the best colors and logo and put them on separate pages for the presentation in Figma.
At Van Wylick, the task consisted of performing a 0-measurement, which amounted to a complete discovery tour of the company. In the beginning, I focused on researching their brand story: what the company stands for, their core values and how they position themselves in the market. Then I analyzed their website and looked at where they are active, what they do and how big the company is. In addition, I researched the origin of the name Van Wylick and why the company has multiple names. I recorded all the information I gathered via screenshots and placed it clearly in InDesign. Then I made a summary of all my findings and added it to the end of the document. Finally, I organized my work and presented it to my supervisor and colleagues.
For the new Blommer website, I was responsible for creating a discover page in Mach3. For this, I researched more than 200 websites, looking for the best examples that matched Blommers' style and vision. I processed the most relevant and inspiring websites in Mach3 as a reference.
First, I presented my selection with substantiation to my supervisor. Because he was fully informed, the final conversation with the client went a lot smoother. The presentation was well received, and the selected websites helped the client to clearly formulate their wishes. This allowed them to easily give tops and tips, which provided us with valuable insights. This made it a fun and educational challenge.
For this task, I continued working on Savala's website. During the previous phase, I had already gained inspiration with Bento grids to collect ideas for the design of the website. Since the client indicated during the presentation that they really liked the style of a website with Bento grids, I also decided to search for inspiring Bento grids on Pinterest. I then continued working in Figma in the design phase, where I processed the collected ideas and styles into a concrete design.
At Raimond Weenink, I helped my colleague search for suitable photography on Pinterest. The goal of this task was to find ideas for person poses that would fit well with Raimond Weenink's website. The style had to be both businesslike and professional. The photos found served as inspiration for the photography on the website. I placed the selected poses in the inspiration phase of Figma, where they were included in the design. Ultimately, my colleague chose the best options that best matched the desired look.
For the inspiration phase at Raimond Weenink, I had to find icons that matched the words we received from the client. The goal of this task was to find suitable icons and place them in Figma. For this, I looked at various websites, such as Shutterstock, Pinterest and Freepik, to get inspiration. In total, I had to research more than 40 words. I found this a fun challenge, especially because for some words I didn't know what to look for at first. This forced me to delve into the meaning of these words and come up with alternative keywords.
For Van Wylick, I was responsible for creating a discover in Figma, so that we could use it for the discover presentation. To do this, I had to carefully read the PDF I had received from my supervisor, extract the most important information from it and take relevant screenshots. I then placed these in Figma and arranged them clearly so that the presentation had a clear and professional look.
This task not only helped me gain a better understanding of the discover content, but also helped me further develop my Figma skills.
I was tasked with transferring all QRS social media templates from Adobe XD to Figma. Since it wasn’t possible to transfer everything directly, I recreated the templates in Figma. I made sure that the sizes, colors, and text styles remained exactly the same. I also structured and prepared everything in Figma so that the templates were easy to use.
In this assignment, I was responsible for finding inspiration for various timelines. To do this, I looked at various websites that used timelines in their designs. I went through the homepages of these websites and took screenshots of the timeline designs that I found interesting. I then placed these screenshots in Figma and added the corresponding link below each image, so that it was clear which website contained each design. This way, I was able to create a good overview of the different styles and layouts of timelines, which helped me find the best approach for our own designs.
For NetPro I looked for inspiration and worked with AI to create a beautiful image for a social media post for carnival. Since the topic of this post was Carnival in Curacao/Aruba, all images had to fit the traditions of that country. Working with Midjourney was a really fun experience, where I learned a lot about how to create good prompts in ChatGPT. I created several prompts and entered them into Midjourney, which resulted in beautiful images that we could use for NetPro's social media post.
On this day, my colleague gave me the task to research website inspiration for the company Around Partners. They wanted a simple but stylish design with not too many animations. To get inspiration, I searched Awwwards for websites with a beautiful and functional layout that fit these wishes. I analyzed different designs and collected examples that provide a good balance between simplicity and aesthetics.
After searching for inspiration for the Around Partners website layout, Femke and I had to create different logo compositions in Illustrator based on the current logo. To make it clearer for myself and to better see the difference between my designs and the original logo, I created my logo variations in a different color. In addition, I researched fonts that fit the logo well and applied them in different compositions.
The next day, Femke and I researched different fonts that could be suitable for the Around Partners website. In addition, I created different text versions in Illustrator, so that I could view the structure of the texts and better sense the differences between the fonts.
For this assignment I had to create a mailing invitation for Addy van den Krommenacker in Figma. Femke and I had to make sure that we chose the right photos for the photo collection that would appear at the top of the mailing. In addition, I made sure that all text from the old mailing from Addy van den Krommenacker was neatly transferred to the new layout.
For the company Properly, Femke and I had to neatly process all input from the customer in Figma. This involved organizing and presenting all documents and materials that the customer had provided. We made sure that the various elements were displayed clearly and consistently, so that everything was well structured and easy to use for the further design process.
After completing the discovery phase for Properly, I was given a new assignment. I had to recreate the website, the design of which had been approved by the client, in Figma. This was intended to be able to easily move and adjust Properly's corporate identity later. By accurately building the design in Figma, we were able to efficiently implement changes and seamlessly integrate the branding into the final version of the website.
My colleague and I were responsible for researching and selecting suitable images for Properly's new website. We searched extensively for suitable photos on various stock websites, such as Shutterstock, Pixabay and Unsplash. We placed the best images, which we thought were useful for Properly's website, in Figma. Ultimately, Remco selected the most suitable photos for use on the website.
For this assignment, Femke and I had to find stock images that matched Around Partners in terms of colors. We focused mainly on blue, white and gray tones and searched for various images, such as buildings, water/sea, sky/clouds and mountains. We then placed the selected images in Figma, so that my colleague could later choose the best images for the website.
Today we entered the design phase in Figma. Femke and I designed several basic blocks for the website, based on what customers found attractive. We had to regularly look back at the discover phase and my previous designs. In Figma I worked out several options and always asked my internship supervisor which was better and what could be improved. I made a lot of compositions, including cookies for the website. In the end, Remco chose two options, which he can continue working with and build them up in Mach3Blocks later.
Femke and I were responsible for finding new icons that fit the new Properly website. Because we were building the website, the icons also needed to be updated. I looked at various websites, such as Shutterstock and Pinterest. I carefully checked whether the icons matched Properly's house style. I selected the best icons and put them in Figma. Then my internship supervisor and I chose the best icons to use.
On this day, Femke and I were learning to code together. Every Tuesday we learn to code, and it's a really fun challenge. I created tasks in Asana in which we collected tutorials and websites that we can use to learn to code, so that we could easily find them. We watched a long tutorial about HTML and then took a test on a website where we could apply the knowledge we had gained.
Femke and I were tasked by Remco to find a new hamburger menu for Frisdrank.com. He had an idea, but wanted us to explore more variations by looking at different websites. I got inspiration from platforms like Awwwards and CSSDesignAwards and created a moodboard in Figma with screenshots of interesting designs. I then designed multiple versions of the hamburger menu in Figma. In the end, Remco reviewed my designs and chose the best version to work on further.
Femke and I designed several options for Raimond Weenink's business card in Figma. I created many variations, trying out different shapes, inspired by ideas I found on Pinterest.
Remco gave me the assignment to design a book cover for Addy van den Krommenacker. The most important thing was that the cover had to be stylish and simple. The client had a request, including the emphasis on his picture on the cover, which I had to take into account carefully. I designed several options in Figma and Remco chose two to show the client and get feedback.
On this day I got a fun challenge: I had to design a new hero image for the website of Frisdrank.com. What was new to me was creating a background for the cans using ChatGPT and then making it interactive in Runway. I had previously delved into Runway to learn more about how the program works. I created prompts in ChatGPT, pasted them into Runway and added the Frisdrank.com cans that I wanted to appear in the video. Finally, I showed the videos to the client and Remco, who gave me valuable feedback.
For the new visuals of the Frisdrank.com website, I worked on creating nicer and better fitting images. For this I used ChatGPT to formulate the right prompts and Midjourney to generate the images. The images that I found most fitting and visually appealing for each can, I placed in Figma in different sizes.
Femke and I had to make a mock-up for Raimond Weenink. Embassy of Brands makes a mock-up for every new website they develop and places it on their website. So we had to make a similar mock-up and add Raimond Weenink's materials.
Femke and I worked together on an assignment for Addy van den Krommenacker. We started in Figma, where we made a collage as a visual concept for his new luxury book. The goal was to create a stylish and fitting atmosphere that matches his work. We then used InDesign to design the book. On each page, we placed the corresponding photos in the right place, so that the whole formed a beautiful, coherent end result.
Together with Femke, I edited all of Frisdrank.com categories in After Effects. We made sure that the animations better match the visual style of the brand. We also adjusted the videos so that they now loop automatically. This means that they start backwards immediately after playing, creating a smooth and continuous playback. This adjustment provides a more professional look and feel on the website and makes the user experience more visually appealing and dynamic.
Femke and I did a short discover for Raimond Weenink in Figma, with the aim of determining the right size for a V-board. During this process, we investigated which dimensions would be most suitable for optimal visibility and aesthetics. We then made multiple designs for the V-board, completely in Raimond Weenink's house style. We worked out different design variations, so that there was a choice of different visual approaches that all matched the branding of the company.
Together with Femke, I made screenshots of all the web pages of the Mach3Builders website and placed them in Figma. I was responsible for capturing the desktop versions, while Femke documented the mobile views. In this way, we created a complete and clear overview together.
Femke and I were tasked with checking the entire Nextor website, with special attention to the 'Shop' page. This page was not yet fully visually in line with the rest of the site, while the other parts were almost finished. We carefully checked which elements needed to be adjusted to make the 'Shop' page consistent with the style, structure and functionality of the rest of the website. During this process I was responsible for documenting the mobile version, so that the display on smaller screens was also properly taken into account in the assessment.
Together with Femke I made a mockup for the luxury book of Addy van den Krommenacker. We exported all the photos and then placed them in the mockup in Photoshop, so that the whole thing looked professional and realistic. Finally, we added the mockup in Figma, at the place where the book will be sold, to give an attractive and convincing image of the final product.
